(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Five years have passed since the body of 25-year-old Mohamed Amin ISMAIL was discovered north of Guelph, the result of a homicide. Investigators are renewing the appeal for individuals to come forward with information, no matter how small the detail may seem.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a deceased individual discovered along the roadway on Watson Road North, just south of Wellington Road 124. The deceased was identified as Ottawa resident, Mohamed Amin ISMAIL.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit continues the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). Investigators believe that individuals in the areas of Wellington County, Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa may have information that can help determine what happened to Mohamed.

“Despite the passage of five years, investigators know that there are those in the community who have vital information that can help bring resolution to Mohamed’s family. We urge those individuals to please come forward to assist our investigators.”- Detective Inspector Michael Moore, Major Case Manager, OPP CIB.

The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with a suspicious fire that occurred in the 200 block of Laurier Avenue on September 18, 2024.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., frontline officers responded to the scene, where Ottawa Fire Services had already extinguished a dumpster fire. Investigators believe the fire was deliberately set.

The suspect is described as a White man with a shaved head and a large build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing an orange T-shirt, black pants and black shoes, and carrying a dark bag.

Le suspect en question a été décrit comme étant un homme de race blanche de forte carrure et au crâne rasé. Il était alors vêtu d’un tee-shirt orange, d’un pantalon noir et de chaussures noires; il transportait un sac de couleur sombre.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person involved in a fraud investigation.

On August 21st between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m., the scammer phoned the victim claiming to be a financial institution that caught suspicious activities in his bank accounts. The scammer instructed the victim to cut up his debit and credit cards and provide them in an envelope to a courier who would attend the victim’s residence.

The victim stayed on the phone with the suspect until the “courier” picked up the cards around 7:00 p.m. Their call ended around 8:00 p.m.

The victim later noticed unfamiliar charges in their accounts.

Personne à identifier dans une affaire de fraude

Ottawa — Le Service de police d’Ottawa (SPO) sollicite l’aide de la population en vue d’identifier un individu faisant l’objet d’une enquête sur une fraude.

Le jeudi 21 août dernier entre 17 h 30 et 18 h, le fraudeur téléphona à la victime, se faisant passer pour un représentant d’une institution financière ayant repéré des activités suspectes au sein des comptes bancaires de la victime. Le fraudeur demanda à la victime de découper ses cartes de crédit et de débit, de mettre les morceaux dans une enveloppe, et de remettre celle-ci à un messager qui passerait à la résidence de la victime.

La victime resta en ligne avec le suspect jusqu’à ce que le prétendu messager ait ramassé les cartes, soit vers 19 h. Leur appel prit fin vers 20 h.

La victime remarqua plus tard des frais inhabituels dans ses comptes.

On July 25^th at approximately 4:00 p.m., the victim attended a recreational complex in the 4100 block of Innovation Drive, when it is believed that their credit card was taken from their locker.

The victim later received notifications of credit card use that he had no knowledge of.

The Ottawa Police obtained a photo of the suspect using the victim’s credit card at a business in the 1400 block of Caldwell Avenue on July 26^th.

The Ottawa Police Service is requesting the public’s help to identify two women involved in an assault that occurred in the 400 block of Cumberland Street.

On June 3rd, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance outside a restaurant. During the incident, the suspects shoved and punched the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Suspect Descriptions:

Suspect #1: Woman, approximately 30 years old, short stature, thin build, dark hair worn in a ponytail. Clothing: dark pants, pink shirt with a dark star on the front, black coat, brown loafers. Carrying a small brown backpack.

Suspect #2: Woman, approximately 30 years old, short stature, thin build, curly red hair. Clothing: jeans, black crop top, dark green jacket, black baseball cap with a Nike logo on the front left. Wearing brown 3-inch boots and carrying a black purse.

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a robbery that occurred at Pimisi Station on May 20th.

The victim boarded the train at the St-Laurent Station. When he exited the train at the Pimisi Station, a man and woman attacked him on the platform, punching him repeatedly to steal his bike and jewelry he had just purchased.

The victim was transported to hospital and was treated for his injuries.

Suspect one is a woman, approximately 5’6, 20-30 years old, average build with brown hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing black tights, grey/light hoodie, a black jacket with a hoodie, white socks, black shoes and carrying a grey side bag.

Suspect two is a man, approximately 5’9, 20-30 years old, thin build with light brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark pants, grey hoodie, black baseball cap, black socks and dark shoes. He was carrying a black knapsack and brown bag.

L’Unité des vols qualifiés du Service de police d’Ottawa sollicite l’aide de la population en vue d’identifier les deux auteurs d’un vol qualifié survenu le mardi 20 mai dernier à la station Pimisi.

La victime monta à bord du train à la station St-Laurent. Lorsqu’il descendit à la station Pimisi, un homme et une femme l’agressèrent sur le quai, lui assénant plusieurs coups de poing pour lui voler son vélo et des bijoux qu’il venait d’acheter.

La victime fut transportée à l’hôpital, où l’on soigna ses blessures.

Le suspect no1 est une femme mesurant environ 1,65 m, âgée entre 20 et 30 ans, de taille moyenne, les cheveux bruns. Elle était alors vêtue de collants noirs, d’un chandail à capuchon gris ou de couleur claire, de chaussettes blanches et de chaussures noires; elle portait aussi un sac gris en bandoulière.

Le suspect no2 est un homme mesurant environ 1,75 m, âgé entre 20 et 30 ans, de carrure mince. Il était alors vêtu d’un pantalon de couleur sombre, d’un chandail gris à capuchon, d’une casquette de baseball noire, de chaussettes noires et de chaussures de couleur foncée. Il trimballait un sac à dos noir et un sac brun.

At approximately 1:28 p.m., a man entered a jewellery store, broke a glass display case, and stole several items of jewellery before fleeing the scene on foot through the parking lot.

The suspect is described as a man approximately 40 years old, with a medium build and approximately 5’8″ tall. He wore dark grey or black pants, a black hoodie, a red baseball cap with a white “T” on the front, and Nike sneakers with a black swoosh.

Le suspect a été décrit comme étant un homme âgé d’environ 40 ans, de carrure moyenne, et mesurant autour de 1,73 m (5 pi 8 po). Il portait un pantalon gris foncé ou noir, un chandail noir à capuchon, une casquette de baseball rouge avec la lettre « T » en blanc sur le devant, et des espadrilles Nike blanches avec un logo noir.

 On November 22, 2024, a victim’s credit card was stolen and subsequently used at two retail locations. The fraudulent transactions totalled approximately $24,000. Investigators are seeking to identify and locate the individuals involved.

 Suspect #1 is described as a man, wearing a white baseball cap, black coat, black pants and black sneakers.

 Suspect #2 is described as a man, wearing black tuque, black hoodie and dark beige coat.

 Suspect #3 is described as man, wearing a red hoodie, black coat, black pants and white and black sneakers.
