Crime Stoppers and the Ottawa Police Service Organized Fraud Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in obtaining a vehicle by fraud.
On the 30 of August 2021, an unknown suspect took possession of a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a car dealership located in the 900 block of St Laurent Blvd in the City of Ottawa. The suspect provided a false name to the dealership staff and presented a fraudulent Ontario drivers licence during the financing process. The suspect was impersonating a real person that was unaware his identity had been compromised. The suspect successfully obtained financing for the vehicle from Scotia Bank and later took possession of the vehicle from the dealership. The vehicle was obtained by fraud and has been deemed a stolen vehicle. The identity of the suspect is currently unknown. The Ottawa Police Service fraud unit is requesting assistance from anyone that may know the true identity of the suspect or information that may lead to the identification of the suspect.
