JANUARY IS CRIME STOPPERS MONTH!

Ottawa – Jan 2011

National Capital Area (NCA) Crime Stoppers is pleased to remind the public that January is Crime Stoppers Month.

In mid January, citizens will find Crime Stoppers information in their VALPAK envelope.  Included is info on Bail or Jail on January 27th at Billings Bridge Shopping Centre; Crushing Crime with Comedy on March 31st at Absolute Comedy; and our Golf tournament fundraiser at Canadian Golf Club on June 29th.

Bail or Jail on the 27th includes such notable personalities as Rick Chiarelli, Gerry Lepage (Bank Street BIA), Deputy Fire Chief Allen Karkkainen, Eli el-chantiry and many more!

Information on these fundraising events can be found at http://crimestoppers.ca/events/.

2010 was a year of financial difficulty for NCA Crime Stoppers.  Social networking has increased the number of tips we are receiving and this places new strain on the fund for rewards.  Donations can be made at  http://crimestoppers.ca/donate/.

NCA Crime Stoppers has a new invigorated vision for 2011!  Chairman of the Board, Keith de Bellefeuille Percy, stated “We have new fundraising goals, new goals for relationships with our citizens; and, we are increasing our profile with community organizations, schools, the music community and law enforcement agencies.  We must work together, as a community to thwart and resolve crime.  We can’t do it alone.”

In 2010 Crime Stoppers was in the community speaking on the safety of reporting crime anonymously, elder abuse issues, community awareness and responsibility.  De Bellefeuille Percy stated, “Our board of directors is committed to seeing Crime Stoppers survive these tough economic times but it takes contributions from the community, no matter the amount, to get us to 2012.”

Crime Stoppers is a locally run program serving Canada’s National Capital and Area including municipalities in both Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.  It is a civilian volunteer group of community leaders and professionals.
