Loaded tractor-trailer stolen

The Hawkesbury OPP is presently investigating a theft of a tractor-trailer.

Someone broke into the yard of Matrix Transport situated on County Road 17 in the Township of Champlain sometime during the night of September 27 and the morning of September 28.

The thieves made their way through a locked entrance where they gained access to a white 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was parked in the yard containing a load of scrap metal.

A GPS locating device was removed from the tractor unit owned by the company "Pro North".

Later that morning police were called in to investigate this theft estimated at approximately $250,000.00.

Police are looking for your help. (ST-ISIDORE, ON.) - The Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is presently investigating an attempted Break and Entry that occurred at the Scotiabank located in St-Isidore on the evening of January 16, 2009.

A person entered the ATM entrance of the bank and drilled a hole in a door leading into the bank. It is possible that the suspect may have been surprised by someone or something and left the area. No entry to the bank was made.

The damage to the door was discovered by ATM technicians on the following day and police were called to investigate. Nothing was stolen.

Photos of the suspect were taken by the bank surveillance system. Police believe that the same individual(s) may have been responsible for other ATM thefts in the area during past several months.

THEFT IN CATHERINE STREET RESIDENCE


(Hawkesbury, ON) - On the 21st of March 2009 between 2:00 pm and 9:15 pm,a group of suspects broke into a Catherine Street residence that is located near Aberdeen Street in the Town of Hawkesbury.

The burglars entered the house by breaking the rear door and then proceeded inside where they stole an undisclosed amount of money.

The criminals are believed to have made their escape by exiting through the backyard.

Robbery in Hawkesbury

On February 21st, 2008, at approximately 2:30 pm, officers of the Hawkesbury OPP were dispatched to the Kwik Cash business, situated at 328 Main Street East in the town of Hawkesbury. Two unknown male suspects attended the Kwik cash store and stole the money from the cash register.

Both had their faces covered with winter apparel.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen. Both suspects fled on foot on Main Street.
The OPP Canine unit was called in to assist where a short track was performed to no avail.

Suspect # 1:
Height 5'8" to 5'10"; weighing approximately 140 to 150lbs; slim build; wearing dark colored facial winter apparel, dark sunglasses, dark leather gloves and a navy blue jacket. The male spoke English well.

Suspect # 2:
Height: 5'6" to 5'8"; wearing a dark colored facial apparel, dark sunglasses, dark leather gloves and a dark green jacket. Male spoke English very well.

No weapons were observed during the commission of the offence. None of the 2 employees working at the time were injured.

The suspect is behind bars!

James Cartwright, who was charged with robbing the Proxim Pharmacy in Alfred last June, has been sentenced to six years in prison. The sentence will be served concurently with a sentence from a similar robbery committed in the province of Quebec at the Essaim Pharmacy in Rigau.

Cartwright was caught on surveillance video at both pharmacies and these photos helped in his identification. Cooperation between the Ontario and Quebec Police Services was instrumental in bringing this individual before the courts.

Cartwright, who is a drug addict, attended the Proxim Pharmacy armed with a kitchen knife. He robbed the pharmacy of money and narcotics.

(Hawkesbury, Ontario) On Friday the 07 December 2007, uniform members of the Ontario Provincial Police, Hawkesbury Detachment held a spaghetti fund raising lunch at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex. The purpose of this lunch was to raise funds for the local Crime Stoppers Program.
The money raised will be used to pay rewards to persons who provide information which leads to arrests.

Officers worked as cooks and waiters to prepare and serve more than 313 meals. The event allowed the OPP to raise $2,190.61.

Acting Detachment Commandant, Inspector Claude Boileau (OPP), stated "This event allowed us to raise funds which will allow us to fight crime in our community. I would like to thank all of our sponsors and everyone who assisted us with this initiative. Their participation allowed this to be a successful event."

(Hawkesbury, Ontario) - On Thursday, December 6th, 2007, at approximately 1:30pm, the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and the OPP Community Response Team (CRT) arrested a twenty (20) year old, Cornwall man with regards to a serious assault which occurred on November 27th, on the side of the road of Highway 138 at Highway 417.

John Deric MASILAMANY is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and breach of an undertaking. He is presently held in custody and is scheduled to appear in L'Orignal Court today for a bail hearing.

At approximately 3:00pm on the 27 Nov 2007 four adult males, in two vehicles were stopped on the side of the road and a physical altercation ensued. As a result, a 20-year-old male tourist from Austria was stabbed in the face. The victim was treated and released.

Two other suspects are still wanted in relation to the assault.

The Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP Community Response Team (CRT) are investigating.

If anyone has information about this assault, they are asked to call the Hawkesbury OPP or Crimestoppers.

OPP Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser

(Hawkesbury, ON) , There will be a spaghetti lunch on Friday the 7th of December 2007 from 11 h to 14 h at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex in Hawkesbury, all procedes will go to benefit the Crime Stoppers Program. Police officers from the Ontario Provincial Police will be present to welcome members of the public as well as local business partners who wish to participate in the event.

The interim detachment commander from Hawkesbury stated "Crime stoppers is a community based non profit program that relies on assistance from the community in order to solve major criminal incidents. The collaboration of our community is a needed and indispensable tool in the prevention, detection and reduction of crime. Together we can fight crime!"

The tickets can be purchased for $5.00 and can be obtained at the Hawkesbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police located at 419 Cartier Blvd in Hawkesbury, Ontario.

Wanted for Robbery

On Monday the June 25th, 2007 at approximately 2:51 P.M., a male suspect armed with a knife entered the Proxim Pharmacy located at 542 St Philippe Street in the Village of Alfred. The suspect threatened the staff with a knife and fled the scene with narcotics and cash.

The suspect is described as being a white male 30 to 40 Yrs old, approx. 6 feet tall, slim build, moustache, shoulder length dirty blond wavy hair, wearing a red ball cap, sunglasses, grey hooded sweater with a logo on the left chest area, dark pants / jeans, dark shoes.

The Ontario Provincial Police Hawkesbury Crime Unit is investigating.
