Downtown ATM users be Alert

In late March 2014 during the early hours an unidentified male approached a individual using an ATM in downtown Ottawa begging to borrow money with the promise of paying it back.

The suspect may use a factious story such as losing his car keys with his wallet locked inside and give fake contact information with the assurance of returning the borrowed money. When a victim calls to request the borrowed money returned find the number does not exist.  No violence has been reported by victims of this crime thus far.

Investigators believe this may be more common than expected as victims don’t bother reporting it. Police are advising good Samaritans to be aware of this scam while using ATM machine in downtown Ottawa. The suspect is wanted for fraud related offences.

Desc;  Caucasian male, 30’s years of age, 6’3, 200lbs, full brown beard,  wearing a black toque, red sweater and a black pea-coat.
