Break and Enter

Crime Stoppers and the Ottawa Police Service are seeking your help in solving a "break and enter" that occurred at 1025 Grenon Ave.

Sometime between 5 PM and 7 PM on the 26 of January 2009, a break and enter occurred at 1025 Grenon Avenue apartment 202. At that time four males kicked open the unit's front door and then they gained entry to apartment unit. Once inside the apartment a video game console, several games and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. The male suspects were caught on surveillance video entering and leaving the property. It also appears that these individuals were loitering in the apartment lobby prior to the break and enter.

The suspects are described as 20-year-old males, 3 blacks and 1 white, all of the suspects were wearing dark pants and dark hooded jackets. One of the suspects wore a distinctive San Antonio Spurs hat.

Theft of ATM

Crime Stoppers and the Ottawa Police Service are seeking your assistance in solving a theft of an Automatic Teller Machine from a restaurant on Bank Street.

On the 13 of December 2008 at 5 AM a lone white male suspect drove to Ralph's Bar located at 571 Bank Street in the City of Ottawa. He arrived in the vacant parking lot in a stolen van. A surveillance video shows the suspect backing up near the entrance door to the bar and exiting the van. He smashed the door's glass with an axe and gained entry to the restaurant/bar. He then attached a chain around the ATM and the van's rear bumper. The ATM was pulled outside where the suspect loaded the ATM into the van and drove away from the scene. The van and the ATM were recovered on Fenton Road, Ottawa. The ATM had been cut open and the money removed.

The suspect is described as a white male, slim build and of medium height.

Robbery CIBC and TD Banks

On the 13 of December 2008 at 12:45 hrs a white male suspect attended the CIBC bank located at 3777 Strandherd Drive. He presented a note to a teller indicating that he was robbing the bank. He then gave a black cloth bag to the teller and told the teller to fill the bag with money. The suspect then fled the bank and eluded the police search.

The same suspect attended the TD Bank located at 263 Elgin Street two hours later where he presented the same note and cloth bag to one of the tellers. Once again he fled the bank and succeeded in eluding the police who were conducting the search for the criminal.

The suspect is described as a white malein his early twenties, 5'3" to 5'4" tall, thin build, no facial hair, pimple marked face, dark eyebrows, black winter coat, a hooded sweatshirt and baseball style cap.

John Russell 022.jpgJohn Russell 032.jpgJohn Russell 034.jpgOn the afternoon of Christmas Day 2008 a passer by had noticed that all the doors of this newly constructed Minto display home on Renaud Road,had been damaged. The passer by informed police immediately when he returned home and the police were on the scene at approximately 1337 hrs. It appeared that entry had been gained through the front door after the windows had been smashed and the dead bolt opened by reaching inside.

On entering the premises the police discovered that all windows had been broken together with all the ceiling fixtures. Considerable vandalism was evident throughout the building with broken glass every where, an empty wine bottle was left on the floor in the main foyer, and show cupboards were damaged or broken off the walls. The toilet and sink were smashed and the electrical panel, located inside the utility cupboard, was pulled from the wall.

RANDY RANKIN HOMICIDE

Rankin murder (2).JPGRankin murder (1).jpgThe Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police has requested the assistance of the public in solving a homicide that occurred in Morewood near Cornwall, Ontario.


In the early morning hours (just before day break) of February 12, 2007, Randy RANKIN, a well-known follower and critic of harness racing, was found murdered in his home in the rural area of Morewood, Ontario. The victim was discovered seated in a chair in the basement of his residence.
It is believed that the killer had approached the residence from the outside on the front of the house and then shot the victim through a window. It was determined that Rankin had died as a result of a gunshot wound.

The O.P.P. is offering a special reward of $50.000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this murder.
