June 2008 Archives

The Ottawa Police Service has requested the assistance of Crime Stoppers to help seek the public's assistance in solving a homicide.

On the 30th day of June 2007, after receiving a call from a family member, the Ottawa Police Service responded to 1510 Riverside Drive unit 1002. At that time, Judge Alban GARON, his wife Raymonde and next-door neighbor Marie Claire BENISKOS were found murdered in the Garon residence. Witnesses last spoke to or saw the victims on the morning of the 29th of June 2007.

As a result of the on-going investigation, police released in October 2007, a composite sketch of a person that the police wish to speak to. He is described as a white male in his early forties, approximately 5'8", 180 lbs, short black hair with some grey, clean-shaven with a broad nose. He was wearing a white short sleeve shirt with vertical stripes and dark pants. If anyone has any information on the identity of this individual, the Ottawa Police or Crime Stoppers should be contacted immediately.

The police are seeking information regarding any observations of persons, behaviors, activities or vehicles that seemed unusual or suspicious at the Riviera Complex or in its vicinity in the days preceding the murders.

Mme Garon had mentioned to friends that she saw a male in the complex that represented himself as a delivery person. However there is no confirmed link between that incident and the homicides.

On the 24 of June 2008 the Ottawa Police Services Board and "The Late Alban Garon Reward Committee" offered a $100000 reward to any person who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the three homicides.

Break and Enter

Crime Stoppers and the Gatineau Police Service are seeking your assistance in identifying the suspects involved in a break, enter and theft of guns from a store located in the City of Gatineau.

During the early hours of February 3, 2007, suspects broke into the hunting store "L'Archerot Plus" located at 128 Gatineau Avenue in the City of Gatineau. The thieves gained entry by breaking into the neighboring business "1001 Costumes". Once inside the costume shop, the suspects broke through the common wall, entered the hunting store and neutralized the alarm system. The thieves then removed the guns and hunting gear from the shelves and racks before leaving the store.

The following items were taken: 2 twelve gauge Remington shotguns, 1 Smith and Wesson handgun, 1 CZ handgun and 1 Springfield handgun. The suspects also took "Rutwear" camouflage clothing, flashlights, telescopes, a surveillance camera, a portable 2-way radio and some cash.

Prior to the break and enter, 2 male suspects were seen loitering around the store. One of the suspects is described as a small man with a slight build.
