The Ottawa Police Service has requested that the Crime Stoppers’ Organization seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved in the theft of several ATM Bank Machines in the Ottawa area.
During the months of August and September 2007, an organized group has been actively involved in the theft of ATM machines from various area businesses. The technique used by the suspects is to steal a vehicle, which is usually a cube van, then that vehicle is driven to the business where the ATM machine is located. Then the suspects break into the business, wrap a chain or a strap around the ATM and pulled it away with the stolen vehicle. To date police are investigating at least 10 similar occurrences.
One suspect was seen at one of the locations. He is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, dark hair and dark clothing. He was wearing work gloves and construction boots.
