The Ottawa Police Service needs your help to solve a series of commercial break and enters in the west end of Ottawa.
Since November 2007 several businesses in the areas of Carp Road and Hazeldean Rd have been targets of break and enters to their storage facilities. The targeted businesses all have exterior container type storage trailers on their properties where machinery and power tools are stored. Culprits have been attending these businesses during the overnight hours to cut the locks and to steal the contents. Local businesses report that everything from gasoline to vehicles containing construction tools has been stolen. Also taken from some of the businesses is heavy machinery including bulldozers and backhoes, costing area businesses thousand of dollars in losses and lost productivity.
Since these thefts are occurring in isolated industrial areas police have few leads to follow up on these occurrences.
