(Hawkesbury, Ontario) – On Thursday, December 6th, 2007, at approximately 1:30pm, the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and the OPP Community Response Team (CRT) arrested a twenty (20) year old, Cornwall man with regards to a serious assault which occurred on November 27th, on the side of the road of Highway 138 at Highway 417.
John Deric MASILAMANY is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and breach of an undertaking. He is presently held in custody and is scheduled to appear in L’Orignal Court today for a bail hearing.
At approximately 3:00pm on the 27 Nov 2007 four adult males, in two vehicles were stopped on the side of the road and a physical altercation ensued. As a result, a 20-year-old male tourist from Austria was stabbed in the face. The victim was treated and released.
Two other suspects are still wanted in relation to the assault.
The Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP Community Response Team (CRT) are investigating.
