The Ottawa Police Service has requested that the Crime Stoppers’ Organization seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved in a homicide.
On the night of Sunday April 30, 2006 at about 10:20pm, a number of young men were gathered around vehicles in the parking lot of the shopping centre located at 1007 St Laurent Boulevard. Shortly thereafter a silver colored Ford van arrived, and parked not far away from the group of young men. Mr. Arash Raffiqi, a 26-year-old Afghani immigrant, was driving the vehicle, which also contained a number of his associates. Within a few seconds of their arrival a male from the group of young men, rushed toward the van firing several shots with a handgun. Mr. Raffiqi was shot as he sat in the driver’s seat. The group of young men fled the scene at high speed in a number of vehicles. No one else was injured in this attack. Mr. Raffiqi was transported to the Montford Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect vehicles:
· Two white vehicles with tinted windows, one being what appeared to be an early model Honda Civic (1990-1992), 2 doors
