The Ottawa Police Service has requested that the Crime Stoppers’ Organization seek the public’s assistance in identifying the two suspects involved in a robbery that took place in the Glen Cairn United Church parking lot located on Abbeyhill Drive off Eagleson Road in Kanata.
At about 11pm on August 4th 2006 an elderly man was returning home from an evening walk near his home in Glen Cairn, Kanata. He was on his way home through the parking lot of the Glen Cairn United Church when two men approached him from behind and asked him the time. After indicating to the men that it was about 11pm he proceeded on his way. After taking a few steps he was tripped from behind and fell to the ground on his face. The two men proceeded to rifle through his pockets whilst he was immobilized on the ground. His Rolex Oyster watch complete with a stainless steel bracelet was removed and he was told not to report the incident to the police. Nothing else was stolen.
The two suspects were both white males in their twenties who spoke English. No distinguishing features were observed.
The victim received injuries to both his hands and face but was able to walk home without assistance.
