A barn fire on July 23, 2007, at Burnbrae Farms Ltd., Lyn, ON, caused damage well in excess of $1 million dollars and also resulted in the unfortunate death of approximately 40,000 laying hens. The Fire Marshall, the insurance adjusters and Burnbrae staff have been unable to determine the cause of the fire.
At this time the cause of this fire has been ruled as “undetermined”, but it is only prudent to pursue all possibilities, including the possibility that the fire was deliberate. Therefore, Burnbrae Farms is offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who can provide information identifying the cause of the fire and, if applicable, leading to the conviction of any person(s) who may have been responsible.

As noted above, a large number of birds perished, but fortunately no human health incidents were incurred. However, the volunteer firemen were placed at significant risk in fighting this fire. Serious injury or death is always a possibility in fighting fires and the staff at Burnbrae Farms are very thankful that this did not occur.
