Gatineau Police have requested that the Crime Stoppers’ Organization serving the National Capital Region, seek the assistance of the public in identifying the suspect involved in a robbery with violence crime committed in the City of Gatineau.
At about 4pm on the afternoon of January 16, 2007 a large white Silverado truck drew up in front of the general dealer’s store located at 29 Chemin de Montreal in the Masson-Angers district in Gatineau to fill up with gas. About two hours later the occupant of the truck that had filled up earlier returned to the store. On this occasion he was on foot and he stated to the employee of the store that his Toyota Echo car had run out of gas and he needed to call for a tow truck. After making the call the suspect then left the store but returned a few minutes later and asked the employee to help him push his Toyota. The two of them left the store together and as soon as they had reached the rear of the store the suspect jumped the employee from the rear. He proceeded to pin the employee, rifle through his pockets and take a considerable sum of money. The thief then ran off in a westerly direction along Chemin de Montreal.
The male suspect is described as young white man of about 20/22 years of age who had a weathered face. He stood about 6ft tall and weighed about 190 lbs. He was wearing a blue jacket inscribed with the insignia Ultramar, blue jeans and a black cap.
