Suspicious Death

Crime Stoppers and the Sûreté du Québec are seeking your assistance in identifying witnesses and the possible suspect (s) involved in a suspicious death that occurred in 2001.

Toward the end of December 2001, 45-year-old Denis Lalonde also known as “Guidoune”was last seen in his apartment located above the R100 bar at 842 Notre-Dame Street in Gatineau. Lalonde was known to police and was believed to be actively involved in the drug trade as a trafficker and user of cocaine. He frequented Fontaine Park and the old Hull neighborhood but had not been seen in these areas since December 2001.

On May 3, 2003 human remains were discovered at the northern end of the Montée Paiement Rd near Jules Desjardins Road and Lac Perdrix in Val-des-Monts. These remains were later shown to be those of Lalonde. The police believe that one or more individuals drove Lalonde to the location in Val des Monts where he was killed. Because of the victim’s background it is believed that this was a settling of accounts linked to the criminal underground.

The victim was a white male, 5’2”, 140 lbs, with long curly hair.
