Hotel Thefts in Gatineau

Crime Stoppers and the Gatineau Police Service are seeking the assistance of the general public in identifying the suspects involved in a series of thefts committed in hotels in the National Capital area. Most of the thefts were committed in the larger hotels of the region and the same items, namely digital cameras, laptops, passports, money and handbags were taken at each robbery.

On the evening of September 25, 2006 at about 7:30 pm, a man was seated at a table in the restaurant of the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza situated at 3 Montcalm Street in Gatineau (Hull sector). He stood up to attend to some business and on his return to his table he discovered that his laptop, digital camera, passport and money had disappeared.

For most of these similar crimes the three suspects have been observed checking out their victims to see if they had valuables in their possession, and if the area was under surveillance. The suspects consist of two men and a woman, possibly Asian in origin. Generally the suspects tend to mix with the crowd to avoid attention.

Police advise the public that it is in their own interest to keep all of their valuables in their possession at all times and never to leave them unattended.
